whoahvember
Hi! Remember me?
Good God have I been busy. Deliciously busy though, because I had the amazing privilege of working on a whole bunch of creative projects this month. I wish I could share all of it with you, but a majority of the work I have been doing is for book and DT work so I can't post it all...however...I can share some of it!! YAY!!!
Before I get into all of that, I wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading some of your comments lately. You guys make me laugh!!! I love it. If I was rich, I would buy a compound and have craft retreats and you would all be invited...just think of all the fun we would have!! ah...a girl can dream, right?
Since my last update, I have been putting a lot more thought into the process behind my pages. With some of the drama in scrapbooking, I started to ask myself why I do it. I am fairly new to paper, some people have been doing it for years and years...when I started, it was purely a creative release, a hobby away from my other hobbies, I guess you could say. I have begun to feel a little burned out with my stuff...I am kind of tired of it all looking the same, and feeling like the majority of my pages lacked a story. They might be fun to make and marginally fun to look at, but that was pretty much it. I'm not really telling my story.
So, I have made a slight shift. I am starting to enjoy a more simple approach to my layouts and emphasizing the story over the fluff. I am nervous and excited to see what the result will be. I hope I can share more about the realities of my life in a way that is still "artistically" interesting to other people.
This doesn't mean that all the fun-fluffy-collage-type-embellishment-sneeze pages will be gone forever, I love me some embellies!! I just wanted to say that I am going through some changes, that's all.
SO! With that said...let's get onto the sharing, shall we??
First on the list: My new favorite page from the garden (and other 15th projects):
These are pictures John took of Drake pulling the end of the apple peel as it came off of the corer/peeler. He is obsessed with this new tool and I love this page. Simple, fun, tells a story. The new Pebbles Page. Enjoy:)
Are you getting ready for the Holidays?? Doing any Black Friday shopping???
Just get a gift card and put it in a fancy Gift Card holder like that. Easy Peasy.
I also made this little ribbon hanger with some Anna Griffin Papers and Basic Gray chipboard ornaments. It was hard to photograph because I didn't really have an open area to hang it, so I had to put it on my bookshelf where my Norwegian hanger usually is...and then I had to try to get it all in the shot...just pretend it's a better photo:

(ps: just so you know, I also made it at 4:30 in the morning.)
Now...guess what else I got to do this month!!?? I had the amazing opportunity to be the guest artist for not one, but TWO amazing kit companies!!
I have been a huge, huge, huge, fan of Jenni Bowlin Studio for ever and ever. When she started coming out with her own exclusive designs, I felt like the heavens had opened up and sunshine was everywhere!! Please imagine my disbelieving delight when Jenni asked me to come and create for JBS this month. I know I squealed, I may have done a little dance, I am sure I gushed like a maniac to my husband who just looked at me like I was nuts.
Please go check out the site, if you haven't already...and scoop up some of her new Transferware Collection...it's drool worthy to say the least.
Here are my projects for Jenni:

I had a feather's and fur theme going there...and of course, I got a little carried away when working on these...I decided to do some impromptu hat design...what do you think??
I personally like #2, but think all could have been vastly improved with a shower and makeup.
Now, this is where I normally would end my delicious update...but I still have more fun to share!!! Not only did I get to do the JBS guest spot, I was also honored to join the girls at Label Tulip this month!!! Label Tulip is such a fun kit club, the girls are all so stinkin' talented!! I got to play with some new KI lace cardstock, and my new favorite love, Elsie paper!! WOOHOO!!!
I feel like I just finished a scrapbooking marathon...I am pooped!!
So...that brings me to the end of this loooooooooooooooooong arse post. Adding up these projects with the ones in my last post brings me to 15/36...20 of the 36 are not for public posting, so that leaves me with one more...the Guest Garden Girl page for 2peas which will be up soon. Whew!!
I am slowing down a little this week, I do have a few other pages to finish for American Crafts, and then I will be heading off for Thanksgiving, and celebrating at the 100th annual APPLE CUP game this weekend!!!
More on that later....:)
Tonight I will be catching up on my emails: if you are expecting email from me, please look for it between tonight and tomorrow night!
Lots of love and (((((((((((hugs!!))))))))))) I have missed you guys!!!

Wow your stuff is gorgeous!!

Teehee, the apple peel page is hilarious!!
I went through the same thing this summer, I was looking through my album and I suddenly realized how boring most of my layouts without journaling are...so I'm trying to get better!
...and of course I love your Label Tulip layouts :D

Okay, so I see what you are saying about meaningful pages. That's my approach, too.
But don't be too hard on yourself. You have been such a wonderful, inspirational influence on me and how I create. You are so talented.
p.s. the hats made me laugh really hard.
p.p.s. love those pages, wish i could see them IRL.

I am so sorry to hear about the "drama" you have been through. Be true to yourself, it is apparent that you have many fans who support you and you can count me as one of them.

My first time commenting on your blog. :) I had seen the Label Tulip projects, but not the Jenni Bowlin ones -- just gorgeous work. I hope your Thanksgiving and the Apple Cup (what is that??) were awesome. :) This weekend is the Grey Cup, the Canadian Football League's championship game, and my Saskatchewan Roughriders are in it for the first time in 10 long years!! 36 projects?! Good gravy. (Seems like an appropriat Thanksgiving epithet!) No wonder you haven't had much time for correspondence. :) No worries -- just let me know your thoughts on the mentoring thing when you have some breathing space. Thanks. - Carmen
