week end

heeey friends...
Just a quick post, really, really quick before I head to sleep...wanted to tell you that I have a boat load of photos to share with you that John and I took on our walk to the market the other day, and I can't wait to post them...so check back tomorrow afternoon, and I will work on getting them up.
In the meantime, here is one of the pictures (of John) along with a photo of the bouquet of flowers John brought home for me (luv him!) in my latest American Crafts DT Layout!! I hope you like it, I wasn't feeling very creative when I started putting it together, but then something started to click and the page just flowed out of me...I like it when that happens.
Also, I wanted to say "thanks" for the sweet compliments on the new photo and the swap stuff!! Julie: that is funny about the vase, because I bought 2!! LOL!! One to send to Germany and one for moi:) It was a lucky day at the Value Village:)
Oh, and I can't go to sleep without sharing this:
First, if you didn't already know, I don't cook. Ever. Well, okay, just about...I don't really like it, I don't get into the Food Channel and collect cookbooks...I just don't...
until now.
I don't know what happened. I am not sure if I have suffered a split personality or something, but all of a sudden, I am into it. I made this Applecrisp last night, recipe courtesy of Michele from Purple Onion Stamps (thanks Michele!!!), and then John and I hit the grocery store and now I am a cooking machine!!! I made this delicious Turkey Apple and Mango Chutney sandwich for lunch...(under the broiler even!)...and then I made homemade Applesauce...and then I cooked dinner...Baked Sweet Potatos with Brown Sugar and Curry Apple Chicken.
As you may have noticed, there is a theme here...we recently were awarded a gigantic amount of apples, freshly picked in Eastern Washington, from Fernando, who works for John. He came back from his apple trip with the entire bed of his truck full of apples...we gladly relieved him of a rubbermaid container full...and then panicked and wondered what the heck we were going to do with them all. Drake offered to eat them, but we compromised so he's just getting the chunky peels:) Since we taught him to pick apples, he's been like a little deer at a petting zoo. It's priceless.
So that's the very late night Thursday update. Tomorrow I will be back with the photos and will share my sad sob story of how I have no plans for Halloween:)

what a fun layout!
love that one rounded corner.
and it definitely looks like you are out of your "cooking rut"...girl you put me to shame. =)

Jen, wait wait wait wait wait...... this is weird. I think I got some of those apples, too!
Hubby is a construction job super, and one of his subs brought him a HUGE bag of apples last week, telling him that he had filled up his whole truck with apples in E Wa. And I am 90 percent certain that his name was Fernando! I wonder if this is a related incident?!
I now have huge baskets of apples in my kitchen and I'm trying to find imaginative things to do with them! Caramel apples was my first choice....ahem. Not exactly 'cooking', is it?!

I have a good recipe for crock pot apple butter if you are interested. Just email me! I had 2 buckets of apples and ended up making 4 crock pots of apple butter. Good fall gifts.
